Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serkan Sürücü completed his medical education at Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine and, following graduation, received advanced training in knee and sports surgery at the Sonnenhof Clinic in Switzerland. He successfully completed all stages of the USMLE (United States Medical Licensing Examination) exams, earning the right to practice medicine and hold clinical positions in the United States. As a certified Orthopedics and Traumatology Specialist and sports surgery subspecialist in the United States, he held clinical and academic positions at Yale University, the University of Missouri, and the University of North Carolina. During this time, he gained advanced expertise and extensive experience in shoulder, elbow, knee, and hip surgery, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of sports injuries.
Throughout his career, Dr. Sürücü has actively held responsibilities in the field of professional athlete health in American football and basketball leagues. He is a FIFA-certified physician and a distinguished member of the Patellofemoral Masters (World Patellofemoral Masters) group. With over 100 scientific articles published in international peer-reviewed journals, he has made significant academic contributions to the orthopedics and sports surgery literature. He continues to offer his international clinical and academic expertise to patients within Acıbadem University and Acıbadem Healthcare Group as of 2026.
Who is Serkan Sürücü?
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serkan Sürücü is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in orthopedics and traumatology, particularly sports surgery, knee, shoulder, and hip surgery, with international clinical and academic experience. He completed his medical education at Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine.
Following his specialization in Orthopedics and Traumatology, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sürücü continued his professional development with advanced training and studies at leading centers worldwide. He has held clinical and academic positions in sports surgery, shoulder-elbow surgery, and sports medicine at prestigious institutions such as the Sonnenhof Clinic in Switzerland, the University of Missouri–Kansas City, Yale University, and the University of North Carolina. He received his FIFA Medical Diploma in 2019 and completed his Patellofemoral Masters (World Patellofemoral Masters) certification in 2023.
Academically, he continues to contribute to the orthopedic literature with over 100 scientific articles and systematic reviews published in international peer-reviewed journals. He conducts his scientific studies in collaboration with numerous clinics in the United States, Germany, and Turkey. His research focuses particularly on minimally invasive approaches, patient outcomes, and functional recovery in hip, knee, and shoulder surgery.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serkan Sürücü is an active member of numerous national and international professional associations, including AAOS, AANA, ISAKOS, AOSSM, FIFA Medical Network, and Patellofemoral Masters. He has been seeing patients at Acıbadem University and Acıbadem Healthcare Group since 2026.
